A little bit like the enterprising marauders I'm studying, I seek to explore new realms in the online ocean hoping to build a settlement on my very own creative island.
Had many qualms (and dizziness) before setting sail on Substack, but then again I was late in many respects. With my YouTube channel, with my final decision on what to study and research, with my emigration. A rollercoaster is an understatement for this historian whose inner chaos reflects the era she now loves the most (don’t say dark ages, that’s a recipe for disaster). But progress is seldom linear, is it not?
In a nutshell, I aim to gather here thoughts on the people and worlds I’m investigating, orphaned ideas, but also in-depth studies and masterclasses about the Viking age, Old Norse sagas, mythology, magic - new insights, academic writing in a more accessible style, no gibberish, no political agenda. Every now and then, snippets of other twists and turns of my more private experiences.
Prithee, lend thine ear and compassionate mind to this most wondrous discourse and cheerfully subscribe to tidings of merriment!
Very excited to read what you produce!
